Dental Veneers

Veneers cover the front of the tooth surface and wrap slightly around the sides and biting edge of the tooth. Each tooth receiving a veneer is prepped to the specific veneer fabrication and placement. A thin layer of enamel is removed from the natural tooth in the areas that will be covered so that the veneer can fit seamlessly with the contours of the natural tooth. The veneer is then attached with a bonding material and hardened as it goes through a curing process with a specialized light.

Porcelain veneers are the longest lasting and most aesthetically-pleasing type of  veneer. They are created in a lab to the exact specifications given by the dentist and mimic the look of natural enamel by using multiple layers of a thin porcelain. Size, color, shape, and fit are all fully customized.

Composite veneers are made using a composite resin material and can often be made in a dental office. They are typically less expensive than porcelain veneers. They can alter the appearance of tooth color, size, or shape and can be an effective solution for less extensive cosmetic improvements. Like porcelain veneers, they are also fully-customized but they can, in some cases, be susceptible to staining and do not last as long as porcelain veneers.
